Cardiovascular responses to stressors are increased after β-blockade discontinuation. Arterial pressure was measured in awake restrained rats 2 days after discontinuation of propranolol (n=5) or saline (n=4) infusion. Mildly restrained animals were subjected to stress induced by a puff of air to the facial region (Air) or sound of approximately 110 db generated by an air horn (Sound).
