The analgesic responses of the control and carrageenan-pretreated groups to capsaicin were not significantly different, suggesting that local carrageenan-induced inflammatory hyperalgesia does not affect capsaicin-induced analgesia. N = 8 for the carrageenan/capsaicin group. Data for the control group is replotted from figure 1 and for the carrageenan/vehicle group is replotted from figure 2 to allow comparison.
