Bilateral SNr lesions did not alter pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)-enhanced convulsions. Bilateral caudolateral SNr-lesioned, sham-lesioned and no-surgery control groups all received a single dose of PTZ (30 mg/kg, i.p.). Handling-induced convulsions (HICs) were measured 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 15, 20, 35, 50 and 65 minutes post-PTZ administration. PTZ-enhanced convulsions, calculated as the area under the curve (AUC), did not differ between caudolateral SNr-lesioned (n=4), sham-lesioned (n=6), and unoperated control (n=6) D2 mice (H[2,16]=0.43, p=0.8).
