Double staining for β-catenin (green) and KLF4 (red) using mouse colonic tissue is indicated. T identifies tumor area (delineated by the dotted line). In the normal adjacent mucosa, β-catenin is located at the cell membrane. KLF4 is expressed within the epithelial cells at the top half of the crypt (white arrowheads). Meanwhile, in AOM-induced tumors, β-catenin is translocated into cytosol and KLF4 expression is decreased.
