Immunocytochemistry revealed the presence of ribosomal P proteins and the translation initiation factor eIF4E in ES-derived motor neuron axons (A, A’ and B, B’ - cervical ES-MNs; C – brachio-thoracic ES-MNs). Many motor axons also contain β-actin mRNAs as revealed by in situ hybridization with a mixture of TAMRA labeled oligo-probes while Slit2 mRNA is observed in cell bodies but not in axons (D and E - cervical ES-MNs).
