ATP depletion increases active Rac1 in HEI-OC1 cells. ATP depletion via treatment with 1 μM oligomycin for 1 h led to increased levels of active Rac1 as compared to control-treated cells. Quantitative comparison of the band densities of GTP-Rac1 to total Rac1 showed a significant increase of GTP-Rac1 in the oligomycin treated group (p < 0.05; n = 3). Transient ATP depletion did not influence the level of total Rac1. GAPDH is used as a loading control.
