Schematic of a time domain a/LCI system. Axial translation of retroreflector (RR) scans the pathlength of the reference arm to enable optical sectioning via coherence gating. Lenses L1–L4 are configured as shown to permit a collimated incident on the sample, and L4 to lie in the image plane of the scattered light (shaded).
