(A/B) C57BL/6J wild-type mice were allowed free access to ethanol-containing diets with (11% of kcal) or pair-fed controls. (A) Animals were injected with pimonidazole (PMD) 1 hour before euthanasia. Paraffin-embedded liver sections were de-paraffinized and stained for PMD-adducts. Images were acquired using 10X objective. (B) Frozen liver sections from pair- or ethanol-fed (11% of kcal) mice were stained for HIF1α. Images were acquired using 20X objective. * p< 0.05 pair-fed compared to ethanol-fed mice.
