Variability of apparent xenomiR detection in human sera: reanalysis of supplemental data from Zhang et al. Four plant miRNAs were detected in each of ten human serum pools examined in the original dietary miRNA study [3]. Pools were composed of 10-11 individuals each, with no assignment criteria specified (other than gender for the two indicated pools). There was substantial variability between pools. Shown are reads per million animal miRNAs for each pool, followed on the right of each panel by a 95% confidence interval for all miRNA-specific data.
