High degree of symmetry and segregation in E84 dLGN. Contralateral retinal axons (top row), ipsilateral retinal axons (middle row), and their merged representation (bottom row) in the right and left middle dLGNs of an E84 macaque (for orientation, see Fig. 5A, framed regions) are shown. Note the high degree of segregation and mirror symmetry in the pattern of eye-specific inputs in the two dLGNs, even for small features within retinal projections (compare arrows in right and left dLGNs).
