Peripheral m3D6 injection increases the number of microglial processes per cell in 22 month old PDAPP+/−;CX3CR1+/− mice. The number of microglial processes were counted in 3-D reconstructed z-series stack images in 22 month old PDAPP+/−; CX3CR1/GFP+/− mice injected with 500 μg of m3D6 or untreated mice. All cortical area samples were quantified and the images were also divided into groups based on the presence of visualized pathology: in the vicinity of CAA, in the vicinity of parenchymal amyloid plaques, and in areas with little to no amyloid pathology. Four mice were studied per treatment group and 6–10 fields of view were imaged in each animal. Data is presented as mean +/− SEM.
