Kaempferol increased hexokinase activity and glucose oxidation in red skeletal muscle of STZ-induced diabetic mice. Following 12 weeks of treatment with kaempferol, (a) mouse liver hexokinase concentration and (b) activity were measured and normalized to total protein contents in the cell lysates. (c) Glucose oxidation in fresh mouse muscle homogenates was assayed using 14C-labeled glucose as described in the Method section.
