(a) Schematic representation of the RF protocol. After a 3-day acclimation period, food access (indicated by gray shading) was gradually restricted using a mechanical barrier. Mice were euthanized 90 min after food access on the days indicated by the arrow, and brains collected for immunohistochemical analysis. (b) Mc3r−/− mice (n = 9) had a modest but statistically significant increase in fat mass (FM) relative to WT; water content and FFM were not significantly affected by genotype.
