Reason for withdrawal from publication
This review has been withdrawn from the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews pending an update. The last substantive update was undertaken in 1992 with a further search for new trials performed in 1996. As new study data has been published since 1996 which may affect the results and/or conclusions of this review the editorial office has decided not to publish it until it is up to date. A new review team (Chalk C, Benstead TJ, Moore F) has taken on this title and has published a new protocol for the review 'Aldose reductase inhibitors for the treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy'. The protocol was published in Issue 1, 2004 and the full review was published in Issue 4, 2007.
The editorial group responsible for this previously published document have withdrawn it from publication.
