Stroke belt includes the remaining parts of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, and Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Arkansas. Non-stroke belt includes the remaining 40 contiguous US states and the District of Columbia.
Abdominal obesity was defined as a waist circumference >102cm for men and >88cm for women.
