RETRACTION

The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and Journal of Virology hereby retract the following article:

Ngo N, Schimmelpfeng Henthorn K, Cisneros MI, Cubitt B, Iwasaki M, de la Torre JC, Lama J. 2015. Identification and mechanism of action of a novel small-molecule inhibitor of arenavirus multiplication. 89:10924–10933. https://doi.org/10.1128/JVI.01587-15.

It was brought to the attention of Journal of Virology and ASM that the description of the screen that identified two novel small-molecule inhibitors, namely, F2927 and F3406, with antiviral activity against lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) is inaccurate. These errors are found within Materials and Methods and Results sections of the paper. The schematic of the screen shown in Fig. 2A should indicate the use of r3LCMV/GFP instead of rLCMV/GFP-P2A-NP. Additionally, this paper describes data and/or results without appropriate authorization for use.

ASM is following its Publishing Ethics Policies and Procedures. As a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), ASM policies align with COPE’s Retraction Guidelines. We apologize to the readers of Journal of Virology and regret any inconvenience that this causes.
