It has come to our attention that during the process of making revisions to our paper, we inadvertently used the same images for control tissues for anti-Sm22a staining in Figures 3B and 6C and antisense Apcdd1 staining in Figure 4B and Supplemental Figure 8L. Our methods section implied that control and experimental images are from kidneys collected from littermate embryos. For the images in question, this was clearly not the case. To correct this issue, Figure 6C control image for SM22a and Supplemental Figure 8L control image for Apcdd1 have been replaced (see below). However, to avoid further confusion, we would like to clarify our methods. In our studies, we collect, assay, analyze, and document multiple kidneys (N>3 from at least two different litters) for each genotype, age, and experimental condition. Although representative images from control and mutant kidneys for each experiment are presented in the figures, they may not have been collected from littermates, especially in cases where complex genotypes are presented in the figure. Given that the control images are always representative of the dataset, the fact that they may be from a different litter in no ways alters interpretation or the conclusions of the study. We hope this erratum resolves any issues with our study.
