The Senior Cardiovascular Surgical Society was founded in 1991 for scientific and social purposes, to provide a forum for formal and informal discussion of surgical and medical issues. Its 12 founding members include:

The 10th Annual Meeting of the Society was held 21-25 March 2001 at the Grand Cypress resort in Orlando, Florida. Four members who had been involved in the early development of an aspect of cardiovascular surgery were asked to prepare personal accounts of their recollections. We begin, in this issue, with 2 accounts by Dr. Cooley, who made a hole-in-one on the 165-yard number 7 on the New Course—a first for the Society.
