Oxytocin attenuates AβO-induced microglial activation in vitro
Microglia were immunopanned from P18 rat pups, kept in culture for 5 DIV and treated with oxytocin (OXT, 10 nM) and/or AβOs (500 nM) for 3h.
(A) Representative Iba1 immunocytochemistry images.
(B), Iba1 immunoreactivity; Veh versus AβOs, p = 0.0077; AβOs versus OXT AβOs, p = 0.0171.
(C) CD68 immunoreactivity; Veh versus AβOs, p = 0.0323; AβOs versus OXT AβOs, p = 0.0167.
(D) Number of primary microglial processes per cell; Veh versus AβOs, p = 0.0009; AβOs versus OXT AβOs, p = 0.0190. N = 12–19 independent cultures. (B) Friedman test and (C and D) repeated measures ANOVA followed by Dunnett’s post-hoc test. Bars represent means ± SEM. Symbols represent mean values from independent microglial cultures. Scale bar: 50 μm.
