As we start to transition into summer, we hope that you had a beautiful spring season with the blooming of new opportunities and professional growth. We at the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology (AJPC) continue to blossom and grow as well, and our June 2023 issue hallmarks our 14th issue of our journal.

Our June 2023 issue contains many interesting contributions. One study showcased the importance of fitness in improving outcomes among a high risk cohort of women with ischemic heart disease. Another detailed the associations between vehicle ownership and disparities in mortality after myocardial infarction (MI). There was a high profile article about the use of artificial intelligence within electronic health records to identify reasons for disparity by sex in statin prescriptions. This June issue also contains articles about coronary plaque and its association with sex hormones and sleep apnea, as well as the mediating effects of aldosterone and ideal cardiovascular health for incident cardiovascular disease (CVD). Other studies published on real world data about patterns of lipoprotein(a) testing, as well disparities in lifetime healthcare expenditures disproportionately burdening Black adults. There was also a case series about dramatic LDL-C elevations following a ketogenic diet and a commentary proposing universal adoption of combination therapy for lipid lowering in high risk patients with atherosclerotic CVD. Another study described the impact of standard modifiable risk factors (called ``SMuRFS'') on outcomes following ST-elevation MI. Also another piece highlighted the persistent treatment gap in the management of familial hypercholesterolemia, where in one large health care system shockingly less than 2/3 of patients with severe hypercholesterolemia (LDL-C ≥ 190 mg/dL) were prescribed a statin. Collectively, these studies highlight some of the exciting work being done in the field of preventive cardiology across the spectrum of primordial, primary, and secondary prevention.

We encourage everyone to attend our ASPC Congress on CVD Prevention to be held in Arlington, Texas from July 21 to 23, 2023. Additionally, we are featuring this year's Preventive Cardiology Experts Course on July 19–20, 2023 and Imaging Master Class Course July 20, 2023, both at the same location. A stimulating program has been planned and is featured on our website, along with registration details, at https://www.aspconline.org/2023congress/. The AJPC also plans to have a booth there where you can learn more about the Journal, and we look forward to connecting with our preventive cardiology colleagues and readers of AJPC in person at our society's annual meeting. See you there, and have a wonderful summer!
