Johnson, Juliet S., Charlottetown; University of London (England), 1958; former general practice staff, Hillsborough Hospital; physician, PEI government. Died Dec. 11, 2001, aged 65; survived by her husband, David, and a son.

Kelly, Douglas B., Peterborough, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1939; internal medicine; FRCPC; RCAMC, WW II; FRCPC; former founding member, Peterborough Medical Centre. Died Dec. 3, 2001, aged 82; survived by his wife, Ruth, and 4 children.

Kunstler, Margaret S., Oakville, Ont.; University of Leipzig (Germany), 1933; pediatrics; FRCPC; former physician, Montreal Chest Hospital Centre; senior member, CMA. Died Dec. 2, 2001, aged 93; survived by 2 daughters. “She retired at age 90. Before the 911 system was introduced, police in Hampstead often called her during medical emergencies, day or night.”

Leadman, Thomas P., Nepean, Ont.; Queen's University, 1943; general surgery; FRCS(Eng.), FRCSC; 6th Fld. Amb., WW II; former staff, Ottawa Civic and Riverside hospitals; chief of surgery, Grace Hospital. Died Dec. 3, 2001, aged 85; survived by his wife, Lorna, and 2 daughters.

McKercher, Lawrence A., Calgary; University of Toronto, 1952; family medicine; CCFP; former staff, Grace Hospital Women's Health Centre, Calgary General, Holy Cross and Alberta Children's hospitals; medical officer, Canadian Forces. Died of cancer Jan. 10, 2002, aged 75; survived by his wife, Vivian, and children, Dr. Catherine, Barbara, Carol, Dave and Jennifer.

Morton, Bruce S., Halifax; Dalhousie University, 1950; pediatrics; FAAP; former staff, Izaak Walton Killam Hospital for Children and Grace Maternity Hospital; associate professor, Dalhousie University. Died Nov 3, 2001, aged 76.

Rasmussen, Theodore B., Calgary; University of Minnesota (USA), 1934; neurosurgery; ABNS, FRCSC; US Army, WW II; former director and senior neurosurgery consultant, Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI); professor, McGill University. Died Jan. 23, 2002, aged 91; survived by 4 children. “He succeeded Dr. Penfield as director of MNI in 1960. He is best remembered for his meticulous work on the surgical treatment of epilepsy. He also played professional jazz clarinet and saxophone.”

Scherman, Brian M., Sudbury, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1974; neurosurgery; FRCSC; former staff, Sudbury General Hospital. Died Dec. 5, 2001, aged 51; survived by his wife, Bibiane, and 4 children.

Schlichther, Wolfgang, Maple Ridge, BC; Innsbruck University (Austria), 1948; psychiatry; FRCPC; former staff, Riverview Hospital. Died Dec. 10, 2001, aged 81.

Tze, Wah Jun, Vancouver; Dalhousie University, 1965; pediatrics; FRCPC; former head, International Child Health and Alternative Medicine and Endocrinology Division, British Columbia Children's Hospital; professor, UBC; Order of Canada. Died Dec. 12, 2001, aged 65; survived by his wife, Theresa, and 2 children.

Willings, Horace R., Bowen Island, BC; University of London (England), 1954; MRCS, LRCP; formerly GP in London, England, Williams Lake, BC, Northwest Territories and Labrador. Died Dec. 24, 2001, aged 82; survived by his wife, Hazel, and 4 children. His wife commented: “Horace was a conscientious, caring husband, father and physician who delighted in knowledge, beauty and truth.”

Wolfe, Leonhard S., Westmount, Que.; University of Western Ontario, 1958; medical scientist; FRSC, FRCPC; former head, Department of Neurochemistry, and medical research scientist, Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital; director, Donner Laboratory of Experimental Neurochemistry; professor, McGill University. Died due to complications of a stroke Dec. 3, 2001, aged 75; survived by his wife, Jeanne, and 2 children. “His distinguished career won him many honours, but he was also an accomplished classical pianist, a potter, an enthusiastic bridge player and a field naturalist extraordinaire.”
