Dear Editor,
The Indian Journal of Anaesthesia (IJA) holds one of the most prestigious positions in academics and medical research in anaesthesiology, critical care and pain medicine. The practice of anaesthesia is evolving at an unprecedented pace. In the last few years, we have seen many changes in our day-to-day practice protocols.[1] Guidelines-based practices are imperative; for this, updated information and knowledge on current practices must be published promptly. IJA has an excellent potential to increase its intellectual value and global reputation.
As always, IJA must inspire and promote submission of the best Indian studies to the journal to create awareness about research and its sanctity. IJA must not be the last life-saving resort for any above-average manuscript but should be treated equally.[2] Furthermore, publication and rejection policies advancement through digitalisation is a new normal. The future may see a revolution with the recent introduction of artificial intelligence to aid research and publications.
The changes may take time, but they will surely bring IJA to the next level of credibility among the international medical research fraternity and strengthen its position globally as an intellectual pioneer.
