Retraction for “Regulation of cell proliferation and migration by p62 through stabilization of Twist1,” by Lei Qiang, Baozhong Zhao, Mei Ming, Ning Wang, Tong-Chuan He, Seungmin Hwang, Andrew Thorburn, and Yu-Ying He, which was first published June 9, 2014; 10.1073/pnas.1322913111 (Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 111, 9241–9246).
The undersigned authors note: “We are retracting this paper due to the following image concerns: splicing or pasting-in of data (Fig. 3A, E-cadherin blot, lanes 2, 3, 5, and 6; SI Appendix, Fig. S3D, Myc blot, lanes 1 and 2); irregular background (Fig. 3B, E-cadherin blot, lane 4); duplication of backgrounds (Fig. 3E, HA and Myc blots; Fig. 4A, Twist1 blot; Fig. 4B, p62 blot; Fig. 4F, HA and HA-p62 blots; Fig. 5C, HA-p62 blot; Fig. 5E, HA and Myc blots); and duplication of data (Fig. 5 B and E, GAPDH blots). We have repeated experiments in an attempt to validate our original data. The corrected results will be submitted and deposited on bioRxiv and will include details both of experiments supporting our original conclusion, and those where the Twist1 antibody (for Ub) appears to be much less sensitive and we were unable to detect similar clear smear bands for ubiquitinated Twist1 (as originally shown in Fig. 4 A and B). Although we believe that our validation data support our original conclusion with the exception of Fig. 4 A and B, Twist1-Ub, we are retracting this article due to the above noted concerns. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
