Clinical and Epidemiologic Significance of Enterococci Intrinsically Resistant to Vancomycin (Possessing the vanC Genotype)

Volume 35, no. 12, p. 3166–3170: Repeat and additional testing of the isolate reported as Enterococcus mundtii carrying the vanC2/C3 ligase gene indicates that this isolate is in fact nonmotile Enterococcus casseliflavus. Therefore, in Table 1, p. 3168, the data for E. mundtii should be deleted and the number of E. casseliflavus isolates and the number pigmented should both read “6.” Similarly, p. 3168, column 1, line 21 should read: “…6 E. casseliflavus isolates and 3 E. flavescens isolates.” Page 3166, column 2, lines 3 and 4 should read: “…has been described in Enterococcus casseliflavus and Enterococcus flavescens (19, 24).”

This correction does not affect or alter the overall results and conclusions of the article.
