In the article by Wang et al, “Repurposing Drugs for the Treatment of COVID-19 and Its Cardiovascular Manifestations” which published in the May 12, 2023 issue of the journal (Circ Res. 2023;132:1374–1386. doi: 10.1161/CIRCRESAHA.122.321879), a correction is needed.
The original version of this Article cited a retracted paper (Ref [21]) and discussed its findings in the section, “Epidemiology of COVID-19 and Cardiovascular Comorbidities.” The authors wish to delete the retracted reference and the corresponding text:
“Notably, using an observational database from 169 hospitals covering over 8,000 COVID-19 patients who were admitted between December 20, 2019, and March 15, 2020 in Asia, Europe, and North America, the relationship of cardiovascular diseases with in-hospital death among hospitalized patients was evaluated [21]. The factors found to be independently associated with an increased risk of in-hospital death include age, coronary artery disease, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and smoking.”
