The Editors in Chief have retracted this article because of significant concerns regarding a number of figures presented in this work, which question the integrity of the data. After publication, several overlaps were detected with figures in this article. Specifically
Overlap between the C-myc band in Fig. 1B and the T p70 band in Fig. 1E.
Overlap in Supplementary Fig. 2A between the bands shown in the T4E BP1 row for Bort (nM) in MM1.S and the bands shown in 4E BP1 row for Tu Th in OPM-2.
Two bands, T-S6 and C-myc in Fig. 1F seem quite similar, as if they share the same source.
In Fig. 3A cell line MNK-P and MNK-T seem to be duplicated in and Fig. 4A ERK-T and Hsp-27-T respectively.
The entire Fig. 3E seems to have previously been published [1] in Fig. 3A by the same corresponding author, describing experiments with different cell lines.
The Editors-in-Chief therefore no longer have confidence in the integrity of the data in this article. The authors were unable to provide raw data. J Gera and C Bardeleben agree to this retraction. A Lichtenstein, Y Shi and Y Yang have not responded to any correspondence from the Publisher about this retraction. The Publisher has not been able to obtain current email addresses for B Holmes and B Hoang.
