Reason for withdrawal from publication

Reasons for withdrawal of review: This review is out of date and could be misleading and has therefore been withdrawn. New reviews now exist on The Cochrane Library for carbamazepine, gabapentin, lamotrigine and pregabalin. The review team is currently updating carbamazepine and lamotrigine. Other anticonvulsants such as clonazepam, phenytoin and sodium valproate will be incorporated into a new updated review.

History

Review first published: Issue 3, 1997

Date Event Description
12 November 2008 Amended Contact details updated
7 July 2008 Amended Converted to new review format.
10 May 2005 New search has been performed At the start of the latest update, 12 new included studies were identified mainly of the newer anticonvulsants gabapentin and lamotrigine. In total the included studies provided data on six different chemical entities used in at least six identified neuropathic pain conditions. Issues of dose response and trial design added to the complexity. A decision was therefore taken to split this review into a number of smaller reviews each covering one chemical entity. Reviews of Carbamazepine and of Gabapentin were published in Issue 3 2005 of The Cochrane Library. The information on these drugs in this review has been superceded. Other drugs remained unchanged at present.
10 May 2005 New citation required but conclusions have not changed This search for this review was revised, no further studies are included in this review but the review has been split and reviews on Carbamazepine and Gabapentin are now published separately.
