This is a correction to: Su Thae Aye, Shiyao Liu, Emer Byrne, Ahmed El-Angbawi, The prevalence of the failure of fixed orthodontic bonded retainers: a systematic review and meta-analysis, European Journal of Orthodontics, Volume 45, Issue 6, December 2023, Pages 645–661, https://doi.org/10.1093/ejo/cjad047
The originally published version of this manuscript required correction.
In the section entitled “Failure rate of FOBR”, “wire-composite interface” should have been given as “enamel-composite interface” in the following sentence:
“Failure at the wire-composite interface was reported to be the most common of these.”
In addition, in the section entitled “Factors that influence failure rate”, the phrase “a higher failure rate” should have been given as “a lower failure rate” in the following sentence:
“It is interesting to note that in the current review, the studies conducted in a university hospital setting showed a higher failure rate 24.29% (95% CI 19.55–29.04; I2 = 91%; 23 studies) compared to the reported failure rate from studies conducted in primary care practice 38.94% (95% CI 24.03–53.85; I2.= 96%; 8 studies).”
Finally, reference 47 and its in-text citation in point 20 of Table 1 were incorrect and should have been given as follows:
Scribante A, Sfondrini MF, Broggini S, D’Allocco M, Gandini P, Efficacy of Esthetic Retainers: Clinical Comparison between Multistranded Wires and Direct-Bond Glass Fiber-Reinforced Composite Splints“, International Journal of Dentistry, vol. 2011, Article ID 548356, 5 pages, 2011. https://doi.org/10.1155/2011/548356
These errors have been corrected.
