Abstract

Aquatic Functional Liquid Crystals

In article number 2306529, Takashi Kato, Junya Uchida, Yoshiki Ishii, and Go Watanabe highlight new aspects of aquatic functional liquid‐crystalline (LC) materials, i.e., subnano‐ and nano‐porous membranes, and aquatic molecular sensors. The design, preparation, and functionalization of the LC molecular assemblies are described. The key to functionalization of aquatic LC materials is the molecular interactions between LC molecules and water molecules, which can be understood through the collaboration of experimental and computational sciences.
