Indian Journal of Psychiatry is happy to bring out Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) for mental health and well-being. In the recent years, there is a huge movement toward positive psychiatry. This is the first time any psychiatric society is coming out with cCPGs on mental health and well-being. Topics were developed keeping the unique challenges faced by individuals in India and also the supporting environment provided by Bharatiya families and culture.
This issue covers wide-ranging topics like Stress Management in Family Environment, Harnessing in Emotional Intelligence to use of Gazettes and Artificial Intelligence. It covers well-being related to children, women, elderly, and preventing substance abuse. We have also included how to promote well-being in print and digital media and developing resources for mental health being which we hope will serve as a template for developing resources and planning.
Indian Journal of Psychiatry is happy to collaborate with the CPG sub-committee of Indian Psychiatry Society, which has developed the content, and is grateful to the CPG committee laid by Prof Shiv Gautam, Dr Jahnavi Kedare, and Dr Sidhartha Sarkar and EC coordinator Dr Sandeep Grover, who are also Guest Editors for this supplement.
This is going to be a milestone in the field of psychiatry when we have tried to focus on mental health and well-being and developed guidelines. This will not only be of immense help to our members but also provide a template for psychiatrists all over the world.
