
Korean Journal of Radiology (KJR) is pleased to announce Dr. Ji Soo Choi as the new editor of its breast section, commencing March 2024. Currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at Samsung Medical Center, Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, Dr. Choi is an accomplished breast imaging specialist.
After graduating from Yonsei University College of Medicine in 2004, Dr. Choi completed her residency and fellowship in radiology at Severance Hospital in 2012. Following her fellowship, she first held faculty positions in the Department of Radiology at the National Cancer Center and, since 2013, in the Department of Radiology at Samsung Medical Center, Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine.
Dr. Choi’s clinical expertise and research interest lie in breast imaging, particularly focused on breast cancers. Her work delves into the early detection of breast cancer through screening programs and predicting early treatment response and prognosis for patients with breast cancer. She conducts research utilizing both conventional and advanced imaging technologies—mammography/digital breast tomosynthesis, ultrasonography, and magnetic resonance imaging—as imaging biomarkers to enhance diagnosis and treatment strategies.
Dr. Choi has authored more than 60 scientific publications in peer-reviewed academic journals. Her commitment and proficiency have been recognized through awards like the Academic Award for Highest Achievement from the Graduate School of Yonsei University (2013), the Young Investigator Award from the Korean Society of Breast Imaging (2013), and the Best Poster Award from WFUMB (2017).
Further demonstrating her commitment to the field, Dr. Choi has actively contributed as a reviewer for esteemed journals such as European Radiology, Journal of Breast Cancer, Ultrasonography, and, of course, KJR.
