Erratum for the Research Article: “Universal Josephson diode effect”

PMCID: PMC10917423  PMID: 37774038

In the original version of “Universal Josephson diode effect,” the terms r’ and r’* in Eq. (16) should have been preceded by a minus sign. This introduced an erroneous term - 4T in Eq. (14) [same as Eq. (17)]. As a consequence, there was a small quantitative upscaling of finite-T plots in Fig. 3B and Fig. 4.

The authors thank Reinhold Egger for bringing their attention to a discrepancy with the recent work [A. Zazunov, et al. arxiv:2307.15386 (2023); A. Zazunov, et al. arxiv:2307.14698 (2023)]; the corrected expression agrees with their result.

Additionally, in Eq. 12 as initially published, the authors inadvertently included a second equals sign (the second one in the equation), which has now been removed.

Lastly, the removal of the erroneous “-4T” term in Eq. (14) affected the material pertaining to finite-T analysis and respective plots in the Supplementary Materials. Corresponding equations (S7), (S8), (S37-S39) and Figures S8, S9, and S11 have been updated. This led to a minor rescaling of the finite-T plots, but none of the physical conclusions were impacted. The former Figure S9 was removed because of its irrelevance to the analysis.

The corrections do not impact any of the conclusions of the paper. Equations (12), (14), (16), (17), and Figs. 3B and 4 have been updated in the HTML and PDF versions to fix these errors. The Supplementary Materials PDF was updated as well.
