Basic Science Focus Forum supplement introduction

Justin Haller 1,
PMCID: PMC10936152

This Basic Science Focus Forum Supplement is gathered from the Orthopaedic Trauma Association Annual Meeting in 2022 in Tampa, Florida. The Basic Science Committee organized several high-level symposia that were paired with the basic science and translational research presentations. This supplement contains review articles of these symposia and is authored by the expert presenters who were organized to present at the symposia. These review articles are centered on several hot topics in orthopaedic trauma: biomechanics in fracture healing, geriatric fractures, immune response in polytrauma patients, amputations and prosthetics, and animal models in orthopaedic trauma research. In addition, the recipient of the best basic science research paper is included in this supplement. This supplement should provide the latest in basic science research in orthopaedic trauma on these topics as we look to enhance our clinical practice.
