Hello from the New Editor-in-Chief

PMCID: PMC10948648

This marks my first issue of Medical Science Educator as Editor-in-Chief and I am truly excited for this opportunity! I come here with experience as an Associate Editor for Advances in Physiology Education, BMC Medical Education, and Medical Education Online. However, the functioning of this journal requires many people working on top of their “regular” duties.

Firstly, I need to thank Dr. Peter de Jong for his leadership during his 14 years as the Editor-in-Chief growing the submissions of the journal over 20-fold from his first year. I wish him the best of luck in his new leadership position as President of IAMSE and personally look forward to working with him and the Board of Directors to continue this upward trajectory of Medical Science Educator.

Secondly, I thank the Associate Editors and Amoritia Strogen-Hewett, IAMSE’s Editorial Assistant, for welcoming me in this new position. I am awed by your diligent work and dedication to the journal and IAMSE. Although I have been a member of IAMSE for ten years, it is still surreal to be working with the famous faces of this organization.

Lastly, I look forward to working with the reviewers and thank them for their tireless efforts which truly make the journal possible. Their constructive feedback makes manuscripts and authors better, improving the quality of our journal and hopefully supplying our readership with useful innovations and scholarship.

I hope that together, we can continue to make the journal better as well as ourselves. I look forward to seeing many of you at the Annual Meeting and please reach out to me with any questions. Be courageous!

David M. Harris, PhD.
