Letter from the New Co-Editor-In-Chief

PMCID: PMC10979787

Dear Colleagues,

I am honored to have been appointed as the new Co-Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Neuropsychiatry. In the last few years, Clinical Neuropsychiatry has become one of the leading journals in the field reaching the first quartile of the Scimago Journal Ranking in the category “Psychiatry and Mental Health” (the only Italian journal ranked in the first quartile of this category). This was achieved largely thanks to the excellent work of the journal founder, Giovanni Fioriti, my predecessor as Editor-in-Chief, Donatella Marazziti, and her Associate Editor, Adriano Schimmenti.

As the new Co-Editor-in-Chief, it is my responsibility to build upon the advances of my predecessors and to ensure that Clinical Neuropsychiatry continues to grow as a valued resource in the open science community. There is often the misperception that open-access journals engage in less stringent reviews. This is untrue, as we engage in the same rigorous standards as hybrid and subscription journals to ensure manuscripts adhere to good science, with a clear description of the methods and a thoughtful discussion of the study outcome. One of our plans is to promote special issues on topics well aligned with our journal’s scope. These are excellent opportunities to highlight areas of research that are rapidly evolving, are underexplored in the literature, or are debated from conflicting perspectives. We would also like to welcome contributions by early career researchers and provide opportunities for junior guest editor roles that would enhance their professional development and help grow their networks.

Clinical Neuropsychiatry’s philosophy is that good papers deserve to be seen, peer-reviewed, read, and cited. Our commitment to sound science principles allows authors at every stage of their career to find a home for their paper with our journal, and we look forward to receiving your submissions. Innovative, high-quality original research articles will continue to be the backbone of the journal. In cooperation with Adriano Schimmenti, my Co-Editor-in-Chief, and the Editorial Board, my aim is to decrease the time of the reviewing process, allowing a faster processing of submitted manuscripts and to substantially raise the journal’s impact factor.

I am looking forward to receiving your valued manuscripts, as well as suggestions for improving this journal.

Yours sincerely,

Alfonso Troisi, MD

Co-Editor-in-Chief
