Although age was significantly associated with a history of CVD in the univariate analysis, it was not included in the multivariate one. This was done to avoid multicollinearity issues, as FIB-4 is per se an age-dependent factor: [Age (years) × AST (U/L)/[PLT(109/L) × ALT1/2 (U/L)] [23].
