Piechotta V, Siemens W, Thielemann I, et al. Safety and effectiveness of vaccines against COVID-19 in children aged 5–11 years: a systematic review and meta-analysis. Lancet Child Adolesc Health 2023; 7: 379–91—In this Article, the forest plots for the outcomes symptomatic COVID-19 and COVID-19-related hospitalisations (figure 2) and corresponding effects have been corrected. For the outcome symptomatic COVID-19, two of the effect estimates included in the forest plot were displayed in a reversed order, which has now been corrected. The pooled effect estimate or any interpretations of the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines in preventing symptomatic COVID-19 have not been affected by these changes. For the outcome COVID-19-related hospitalisations, the effect estimate of one of the included studies (Sacco et al, 2022) has been corrected. Correction of these data resulted in an updated pooled effect estimate (vaccine effectiveness of 70·8% [95% CI 38·5–86·1] under the random effects model; I2=76·5%) and changes to the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation assessments (low certainty in the evidence due to risk of bias and inconsistency); these changes were also made in the table. Additionally, the estimated absolute effect with vaccination for the outcome SARS-CoV-2 infection has been corrected in the table, which was first calculated on the basis of the vaccine effectiveness estimate, and has been corrected to the value calculated on the basis of the vaccine effectiveness ratio. The overall findings and conclusions of this systematic review were not affected by these changes. These changes have been made to the online version as of Feb 16, 2024.
