This article is being retracted at the request of the editors and authors.
The editorial office was alerted to a comment on PubPeer that raised concerns about image duplication in Figure 7G and flow cytometry results (https://pubpeer.com/publications/0C0C5C5BA797FB839D8F8F1B1AAFCD). The editorial office performed image analysis on the article, which revealed evidence of image duplication in identical or altered fashion of the following:
-
•
A western blot in Figure 5L (U87 Caspase-7 and TBD0220 Caspase-3)
-
•
Colony formation assay images from Figure 5A (TBD0220 Ctrl and F3 T3-Cas13a-cr1) in Figure S5 (PC9 F3-T3 AZD4547, MDA-MB-231 F3-T3 Cas13a-cr1, and A375 F3-T3 Cas13a-cr1)
-
•
A colony formation assay image in Figure S5 (PC9 F3-T3 AZD4547 and A375 F3-T3 Cas13a-cr1)
-
•
A Ki67 histology image in Figure 7G (Vehicle control and Cas13a)
Further examination revealed the reuse of Ki67 histology images from Figure 6G (Ctrl and F3-T3-Cas13a-cr1) of the Molecular Therapy article in Figures 6I (PDX IDH1mut Cr14) and 6L (PDX F3-T3 CrF3-T3) of the Theranostics article (Wu et al., 2023, Theranostics 13, 5305–5321, https://doi.org/10.7150/thno.84429).
The authors provided the raw data to address the concerns about the figures in question. However, given the extent of the issues identified, the editors have lost confidence in the findings presented in this article. This reuse (and in part, misrepresentation) of data without appropriate attribution represents a severe abuse of the scientific publishing system.
