At St Mary's he was a member of the successful rugby team that won the hospitals cup in 1972. A compassionate and dedicated GP, his interest in asthma earned him the Doctor of the Year award in 1994. An unjustified complaint and the failings of the complaints procedure led him into depression and to his untimely death. He leaves a wife, Julie; and a daughter.
