Consultant radiologist Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital 1946-78 (b Hendon 1915; q University College Hospital 1939), d 19 January 2002.
He served as regimental medical officer in the Middle East, Sicily, and Italy, and became interested in radiology while convalescing from motor cycle injuries (a German booby trap.) His supreme DIY skills proved invaluable in the x-ray department and in maintaining his vintage tourers. Unusually, he combined this technical ability with broad humanity and tolerance of the competing demands of various specialties on the resources of his unit. Retirement to Scilly enabled him to be in and on the sea as much as he liked. Predeceased by his first wife, Joyce, he leaves his second wife, Julie; two children; and four grandchildren.
