Former general practitioner Harrogate, Yorkshire (b Newcastle 1917; q Durham 1940), died 5 November 2002.
Gerald served with Royal Air Force Bomber Command in India as squadron leader during the second world war and then came to live in Harrogate. After working in obstetrics, he began a 40 year career in general practice. At first he worked singlehanded, but later he was in partnership and finally he was part of a group practice in a new health centre. He retired in 1986. Gerald had wide interests in dogs and sport. In his last few years he developed Alzheimer's disease. He leaves a wife, Margie; four children; and 12 grandchildren.
