Former medical superintendent and general practitioner Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore, India, and general practitioner Herne Hill, London (b Woolwich, London, 1912; q St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, 1936), died from leukaemia on 21 August 2002.
After qualifying, he worked with the great pioneer missionary Amy Carmichael in Dohnavur Hospital, southern India, for 10 years before becoming medical superintendent of the Christian Medical College Hospital in Vellore, southern India, in 1950. After his return to England, in 1961 he joined a general practice in Herne Hill, south London, from where he continued his worldwide publishing programme, most notably of the Chinese thinker Watchman Nee. He leaves a wife, Jean; two children; and four grandchildren.
