Abstract

The front cover shows the pyrolysis‐based saccharification of cellulosic biomass such as wood, which consists of levoglucosan production by fast pyrolysis followed by hydrolysis of levoglucosan to glucose as a key intermediate for the production of biochemicals and biofuels. In this study, levoglucosan is efficiently hydrolyzed to glucose by solid acid catalyst under microwave irradiation.
