Rats were exposed by instillation to 0.36 mg of SiO2_15_Unmod or SiO2_15_Amino and euthanized to isolate total RNA from the lungs both at 3 days (Exposure group; E) and 21 days (Recovery group; R) after initial instillation.

The authors state that the scientific conclusions are unaffected. This correction was approved by the Academic Editor. The original publication has also been updated.
