Dear members and readers,
We are delighted to announce that, effective January 1, 2025, the Journal of Chest Surgery has officially become the joint publication of the Korean Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (KSTCS) and the Taiwan Society of Thoracic Surgeons (TSTS).
Established in 2018, TSTS has quickly become the premier thoracic surgery society in Taiwan, boasting a membership of 547 by the end of 2024. The society is instrumental in shaping the field of thoracic surgery in Taiwan and is responsible for board certification, professional training, educational programs, scientific congresses, international collaboration, and initiatives related to national health insurance. In the past year alone, 27 residents completed their thoracic surgery training and achieved board certification through TSTS. The society has also cultivated a strong partnership with the Korean thoracic surgical community. On July 6, 2024, TSTS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Korean Association for Thoracic Surgical Oncology (KATSO) to enhance bilateral collaboration in thoracic surgery. Subsequently, the first TSTS- KATSO Joint Conference was held successfully in Taiwan on October 19, 2024. The second KATSO-TSTS Joint Conference is scheduled to take place in Seoul, Korea, on September 26, 2025. By sharing an official journal, TSTS and KSTCS are positioned to deepen their collaboration and knowledge exchange, further advancing clinical practice and basic research in thoracic surgery throughout Asia.
This partnership marks a significant milestone, expanding the journal’s scope and audience, and attracting more international scholars to share their outstanding research in our journal. We are confident that this collaboration will further elevate the Journal of Chest Surgery as a premier forum for academic exchange in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery.
