The Editorial Board of Journal of Medical Toxicology (JMT) would like to recognize and thank all those who served as our peer reviewers in 2024. The thorough, constructive, and honest peer review provided by our volunteer experts was indispensable. Last year JMT received over 300 new manuscripts for consideration. Less than 22% of all submitted manuscripts were eventually published in the journal after careful peer review and editorial board deliberation. Our peer reviewers play a vital role in making sure the studies we publish meet the highest ethical standards, are scientifically credible, and add meaningfully to the evolving body of medical knowledge. We fully recognize peer review is not perfect, and we encourage reader feedback to help us evaluate our procedures in an effort to do better.
This year we are delighted to recognize another group of “Distinguished Reviewers.” We are particularly grateful to this dedicated cadre of experts. They comprise an elite class determined by our editorial board based on the number, quality, and timeliness of peer reviews completed in 2024. Fewer than 20% of our peer reviewers are included in this eminent group.
Finally, the editors of JMT would like to express our gratitude to the American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT) for their unconditional support of JMT. Even though JMT maintains complete editorial independence from ACMT, the support from ACMT’s board of directors and staff are essential to the journal’s continued growth.
We successfully completed our 20th year of uninterrupted publishing in 2024. We have an important responsibility to you and to science, and we will work hard to preserve your trust in JMT. On behalf of the entire editorial board, thank you to all our peer reviewers for elevating the science and practice of medical toxicology.
