Correction for Protein-protein interactions governing septin heteropentamer assembly and septin filament organization in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

PMCID: PMC12206502  PMID: 40459560

In “Protein-protein interactions governing septin heteropentamer assembly and septin filament organization in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.” Versele M, Gullbrand B, Shulewitz MJ, Cid VJ, Bahmanyar S, Chen RE, Barth P, Alber T, Thorner J (2004) Mol. Biol. Cell 15: 4568-4583, the plasmid pMVB38 is described as expressing (from the CDC12 promoter) GFP onto whose C-terminus is fused the C-terminal extension (CTE) of Cdc12 (residues 337-407) in the LEU2-marked multi-copy (2 micron circle) vector YEplac181. Recently conducted whole-plasmid sequencing (Michael A. McMurray, Univ. of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, CO, personal communication) has revealed that the GFP sequence in this construct is incomplete and present in inverted orientation (and, hence, non-fluorescent) and fails to make an in-frame fusion to the Cdc12 CTE. Any conclusions stated in the above publication from experiments utilizing this purported GFP-CTE(Cdc12) chimera are thus erroneous and should be ignored.

The authors deeply regret this error.
