Correction for “Setdb1 ablation in macrophages attenuates fibrosis in heart allografts,” by Zhibo Ma, Xi Zhou, Wenlong Jia, Xiaosheng Tan, Xia Huang, Jingzeng Wang, Lingjuan Sun, Qingwen Li, Xiangli Zhao, Naonao Yuan, Ping Liu, Jing Liu, Zhishui Chen, and Peixiang Lan, which published June 24, 2025; 10.1073/pnas.2424534122 (Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 122, e2424534122).
The authors note that, due to a production error, Fig. 6 appeared incorrectly. The authors explain that the colors in Fig. 6 were not in RGB format. Additionally, there was a spelling error in panels I and J of Fig. 6, where “α-SMA” was incorrectly spelled as “-S MA”.
The corrected figure and its legend appear below. The online version has been corrected.
Additionally, the authors note that SI Appendix, Fig. S12 in SI Appendix appeared incorrectly. The authors explain that “upon reviewing [their] original data records, [they] identified that the H&E image intended for Fig. 7E was inadvertently reused for SI Appendix, Fig. S12B.
This mistake likely occurred due to accidental misplacement of different groups of images during the arrangement of multiple images concurrently.”
As such, the authors have now updated the SI Appendix to include the correct SI Appendix, Fig. S12B panel. The SI Appendix has been corrected online.

FN1 interacts with PIRA and promotes fibrosis in allograft fibrosis. (A) Selected FN1-binding proteins, protein score, and sequence coverage in mass spectrometry are listed. (B) Immunoblot analysis of LILRA1-4 in cell lysates immunoprecipitated with anti-FN1 or IgG from THP-1 cells. (C) Schematic diagram of the interaction between FN1 and LILRA1, LILRA2, LILRA3, and LILRA5 proteins. (D) Expression of fibrosis-related genes in BMDMs from WT B6 (Control) and Pira−/−mice (n = 6) treated with or without recombinant Fn1 (n = 6). unpaired Student’s t test. ***P < 0.001. (E–J) WT and Pira KO mice treated with CTLA4-Ig (at day-1 and day2) were transplanted with BALB/c hearts. (E) The percentage of allograft survival after transplantation (n = 10). Log-rank (Mantel–Cox) test. ****P < 0.0001. (F) Allografts were harvested on day 28 posttransplant. The image shows allografts from WT and Pira−/−mice. (G and H) H&E-stained sections of heart allografts harvested from WT B6 and Pira−/−mice recipients on day 28 posttransplant. Representative images are shown. Masson’s trichrome staining of allograft sections from WT B6 and Pira−/−mice. Representative images for each group (G) and a bar graph of the collagen volume fraction (H) in WT B6 and Pira−/−mice (Day 28) are shown (n = 10). Unpaired Student’s t test. ****P < 0.0001. (I) Graft sections from WT B6 and Pira−/−mice on day 28 posttransplant were analyzed by SHG and immunofluorescence staining. (Scale bar, 10 µm.) Col1a1, Fn1, α-SMA (green), DAPI (blue). Quantification of SHG, Col1a1, Fn1, α-SMA (Right). (J) Western blot results show the expression of Fn1, Col1a1, and α-SMA in heart allografts on day 28. Gapdh was used as the reference protein.
