This listing of names of prokaryotes, published in a previous issue of the IJSEM, is provided as a service to microbiologists to assist in the recognition of new names and combinations. This procedure was proposed by the Judicial Commission [1]. The names given herein are listed according to the rules of priority (i.e. the time and date of publication of the articles on the journal’s platform and the order of valid publication of names in the original articles) [2].

* Earlier legitimate homotypic synonyms: Flavobacterium marinum Song et al. 2013 and Myroides aquimaris García-López et al. 2020. Earlier illegitimate homotypic synonym: Paenimyroides aquimaris (García-López et al. 2020) Zhang et al. 2023.

† The name is illegitimate as it contravenes Rule 12b of the ICNP.

‡ The etymology must give N.L. neut. n. instead of N.L. masc. n. [3]

§ The List Editors have corrected amylolyticus to amylolyticum (a.my.lo.ly’ti.cum. Gr. neut. n. amylon, starch; Gr. masc. adj. lytikos, able to dissolve; N.L. neut. adj. amylolyticum, starch dissolving).

| The List Editors have corrected geothermalis to geothermale (ge.o.ther.ma’le. Gr. fem. n. ge, earth; N.L. fem. adj. thermalis, of thermal properties or origin; N.L. neut. adj. geothermale, from hot earth, from a geothermal site).

¶ The List Editors have corrected rupiensis to rupiense (ru.pi.en’se. N.L. neut. adj. rupiense, originating from Rupi Basin, referring to the place of isolation of the type strain).

# The List Editors have corrected voinovskiensis to voinovskiense (voi.nov.ki.en’se. N.L. neut. adj. voinovkiense, from Voinovskie, referring to the Voinovskie Hot Springs, the place of isolation).

** Previously described as a Candidatus taxon.

The following taxonomic opinions (i.e. the emendation of circumscriptions or the creation of synonyms) do not affect the status of a name under the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes. These taxonomic opinions can neither be considered approved nor disapproved by the International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes.
