The authors regret an inconsistency in the above article regarding a P-value reported in Table 3 vs the study Abstract. Specifically, regarding intraoperative fluid management, patients with an accurate diagnosis of heart failure (true positives) were associated with 470 ml lower adjusted intraoperative fluid administration compared with those with a missed diagnosis (false negatives; 95% confidence interval 120–830 ml; P=0.009). The P-value of 0.009 (reported in the Abstract) is correct; whereas the P-value of <0.001 reported in Table 3 should instead read as <0.01. None of the overall conclusions are affected by these corrections, however, the authors apologise for any inconvenience caused by the oversight.
